Parker is a multi-talented graduate of The Citadel's Graduate College, where she received her Master of Arts in Education degree. Parker earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the College of Charleston. She won the Miss USA pageant on February 11, 1994, and placed as 4th runner-up at the 1994 Miss Universe pageant. An Emmy winning journalist, Parker has co-anchored the evening news and weekend morning news for KTLA, Channel 5, Los Angeles, as well as being the anchor for KTLA's weather (2008). Parker is a recipient of the Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian honor given in the state of South Carolina.
