Dr. Evan S. Dobelle

- Dobelle attended The Citadel for two years 1962 -1963, before earning a bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in Education Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a masters in public administration from Harvard University.
- He served as U.S. Chief of Protocol with the rank of U.S. Ambassador under President Jimmy Carter.
- He led as President six institutions of higher education as a Full Professor of Public Policy, Political Science or Urban and Regional Planning at Middlesex Community College (MA), City College of San Francisco, Trinity College (Ct), the University of Hawaii, the New England Board of Higher Education in Boston and Westfield State University (MA). Evan has been Awarded numerous honorary degrees from universities in America, Japan, Vietnam and India and holds earned BA, M.Ed. and Ed.D.
- Dobelle was active in Democratic politics at an early age. He was elected Mayor of Pittsfield, MA at age 27, and later served as Treasurer of the Democratic National Committee and Chairman of the Carter/Mondale Presidential Committee.
