Mitchell “Mickey” Langley Baker, Sr., 74, of Simpsonville, widower of Lydia Seigler Baker after 46 years of marriage, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of October 4, 2021. Mickey was born in Greenwood to the late Henry Calvin Baker and Sara Langley Baker. He graduated from Greenwood High School and attended The Citadel, where he was a member of the Regimental Band Company. Graduating in 1969, Mr. Baker was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force where he served until 1973, earning the rank of Captain. He was a devoted member of Greenville ARP Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. Surviving are his children, Michelle Baker Johnson (Charles McGilvary Johnson) of Jasper, GA, Mitchell “Mitch” Langley Baker, Jr. (Melissa Martin Baker) of Clayton, GA, and Michael Henry Baker of Onancock, VA; grandchildren, Caroline Johnson Drury (James G. Drury), Austin Langley Johnson, Anna Catherine Johnson, Mary Beatrice Johnson, Charles Nathaniel “Nathan” Johnson, Mitchell “Trey” Langley Baker III, and Martin Anthony Baker; brother Charles Calvin Baker (Pam Austin Baker); and sister-in-law Florence Seigler Lloyd (Charles Edwin Lloyd, III). Mickey is also survived by many classmates, colleagues, and friends, especially his close friend of recent years Cheryl Werner. A private service will be held at Greenville ARP Church on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with a live stream being made available through the Church’s website www.greenvillearp.com. Burial will follow in Cannon-Byrd Memorial Park, Fountain Inn. Honorary pallbearers will be the Class of 1969 Citadel Regimental Band and members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
