BREVARD, Mildred Mildred Gilmore Brevard of 115 Rogers St., Moncks Corner, SC, died Sunday, January 6th, in Roper Hospital, Charleston, S.C. Wife of Dr. Henry W. Brevard, II, she was born in Norwalk, Connecticut. Mildred was a daughter of Mary Singleton Gilmore and the late William Palmer Gilmore, Sr. She was a 1957 graduate of Granard High School, a 1961 graduate of South Carolina State College and received a Master’s Degree in Education from the Citadel in Charleston. Mildred was an active member of The Church of the Redeemer Episcopal, Pineville, S.C. where she served in numerous capacities, including director of the Pineville Chorale. Mildred was a band director, choral director, assistant principal and principal in Berkeley County Schools. After retirement, she continued to serve the students of Berkeley County as hearing officer. She was a jazz vocalist with Lonnie Hamilton and the Diplomats and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two children, Darryl Brevard (Veronica) of Moncks Corner and Nicole Brevard-Hines (Jesse) of Orangeburg, SC; a sister, Shirley Gilmore Tate of Gaffney; two brothers, William P. Gilmore, Jr. (Martha) of Moncks Corner and H. Singleton Gilmore of Greer; 2 grandchildren. Services will be Thursday, 12:00 noon, in The Church of the Redeemer Episcopal with Father Edwin Walker officiating. Interment will be Friday in Gaffney, SC.
