Michael Forrester Warren MD, 72, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Saturday, September 30, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 9, 2023 in Old St. Andrews Parish Church, 2604 Ashley River Road at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends Sunday in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Michael was born September 12, 1951 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Ralph Forrester Warren and Clemmie Cox Warren. Michael grew up in Charleston, SC, graduated from St. Andrews Parish High School and completed his undergraduate studies at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. Following his tenure at The Citadel, he served in the United States Air Force before returning to school to earn a Master of Science degree in Microbiology and Biochemistry from North Carolina State University. Michael returned to Charleston to attend medical school and earned a degree in Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Warren completed two years of residency in General Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill/Wilmington and a residency in Dermatology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Michael returned once again to Charleston to practice medicine as an Attending Physician in the Department of Dermatologic Surgery at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. He later opened his practice as Island Dermatology on James Island and later Johns Island serving his patients for many years until his death. In addition he participated in a number of professional and charitable associations, including the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Michael was an avid surfer – always in search of the “perfect wave” and enjoyed the sport throughout his life. He was also an active member of Old St. Andrews Parish Church for over 70 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Shelley, whom he loved, supported, and devoted his life to for almost 50 years. Married right after graduating from The Citadel, Michael and Shelley were inseparable. He is also survived by his brothers, Kenneth Warren (Nancy), Gerald Warren (Torey); sister, Melinda Westall (Ron); nieces and nephews, Laura, Lindsay (Tony), Matthew (Katie), David (Meghan), Andy (Brittany), Stephanie (Jamie), Barrie (Scott), Billy, Jenni and several great nieces and nephews.
