Michael C. Thompson, 58, of Stevensville, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 22. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 25, 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph, with Msg. Eugene Sears officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 24, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. He was a retired captain of the United States Air Force. On June 6, 1970, he married Susan Vinay, in Washington, D.C. Michael worked at Whirlpool as a Sr. Director of the Government Affairs Department. He loved to fly fish and to golf. Michael was a loving father who gave his heart and soul to his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Susan; parents, Harry and Flo Thompson of Hilton Head, S.C.; sons — Timothy David Thompson of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Patrick Michael Thompson of Chicago; daughters — Terri Lynn Thompson of Denver, and Kelly Anne (Barry) Shoemake of Midland, Mich.; one grandson, Brenden Michael Shoemake; and one sister, Gail Ann Sharber of Atlanta. Michael’s kindness, love and compassion are what he gave, not only to his family, but to everybody he met. He will be greatly missed.
