Martha Cauthen Gribble, age 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at her home surrounded by family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Unity Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Dr. Matthew Rich officiating and the Reverend Molly Spangler. The burial will be at Unity Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family immediately following in the Fellowship Hall.
Born in Lancaster, South Carolina, Martha was one of three daughters of the late Carl Edwin Cauthen and Mary “Mae” Ford Cauthen. She graduated from Great Falls High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Winthrop University, her Master of Arts Degree in Teaching from The Citadel, and her Administrative degree from Winthrop University.
Martha was a loved and respected Teacher and Administrator in the South Carolina education system for 40 years, with the last 24 years in the Fort Mill Schools. She was also a dedicated member of Unity Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and a beloved member of the Joyful Ringers handbell choir. Being a Master Gardner, she loved nothing more than being outside in nature taking advantage of her green thumb. She cherished time spent with her Garden Club, Bridge clubs, book clubs, and Bible study group.
She is survived by her husband Steven A. Gribble; her two children Russ Gribble (Jessica) of Spartanburg and Margaret Gribble of Fort Mill; grandchildren, Mali and Charlee Rae Gribble; her twin sister, Margaret Burwell (Jack) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Nancy Marshall (Clifford) of Lancaster, SC, as well as several nieces, nephews and family pet, Belle and granddog Briggs
