Marlaina L. Wilkerson, of Kingstree, departed this life on February 4, 2023. She was the youngest of two children, born to Geneive Pressley and the late Michael A.J. Wilkerson on March 10, 1985. She was preceded in death by her father.
Marlaina was educated in the public school system of Broward County, then she was relocated to Kingstree, SC where she continued her education in the Williamsburg County School District and graduated from Kingstree Senior High School in 2004. She continued her education at Winthrop University, Rock Hill, SC, and she then transferred to Francis Marion University, Florence, SC where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology Degree. While attending college she worked during the summer with the Williamsburg County School District. She moved to Orangeburg, SC. Where she then decided to further her education while being employed. She attended The Citadel in Charleston, SC where she earned her Master’s Degree.
While fighting Metastatic Breast Cancer, Marlaina continued to work for Zeus Medical until her passing.
At an early age Marlaina accepted Christ and was a faithful member of St. Paul AME Church, where she served on the S.L. Davis Choir, Youth Usher Board and Junior Trustee.
Marlaina was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend that will truly be missed by many. She leaves to cherish her memories her Mother: Geneive Wilkerson of the home; Sister: Shawntoya Wilkerson; Niece: Taylor McCullough; Nephew: C.J. McCullough of Kingstree that she help raised; Brothers: Michael L.D. Anderson of Fort Lauderdale, FL; a precious loving grandmother: Lou Dell Barr of Kingstree, SC; eight uncles: John t. (Susie) Barr, Warren L. (Martha) Barr, Raymond L. Pressley, Theophilus Segres of Kingstree, SC, Leroy Wilkerson, Steve A. Wheeler of West Park, FL, Theotis (Marcia) Pressley of Palm Bay, FL, Alfred Christie of Coral Springs, FL; five aunts: Lula Christie of Miami, FL, Clara Wilkerson, Denise Wheeler of West Park, FL, Mary L. Scott, Lizzie Ruth Barr of Kingstree, SC; a special friend of the family Charlie Clark of West Park, FL, and Jerome Greene of Nesmith, SC; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
