Marion Screven Hair, 82, of Charlotte, NC died on February 20, 2003 at his home. A son of Col. Clifton L. Hair and Sallie Jervey Hair of Charleston, SC, Mr. Hair is survived by his wife, Thelma Mason Hair, a daughter, Shirley Hair Blackburn, a son, Robert and wife Terry, two grandchildren, Catherine and Ben Blackburn, a brother, Richard Hanckel Hair, a sister, Sallie Hair Kruger and her husband, Adolph (Buddy) Kruger. Also surviving are sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marion and Albert Thacker, and Mrs. Shirley Clark. He finished Charleston Schools, Bennett and Charleston High School. A graduate of The Citadel Class of 1941, he was voted by his peers in the Cadet Corps to receive the J.O. Wilson award and ring. He served in the U.S. Army Artillery in World War II from 1941 to 1945. He was in the China/Burma/India Theater of war, where he met and married Thelma Mason, an Army nurse, in 1945 in Calcutta, India. Mr. Hair was active in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Charlotte, serving on the Parish Vestry, Search Committee, St. Peter’s Endowment Board, St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation Board, Brotherhood of St. Andrew, and gave engineering consultations for various Parish constructions and other projects. Mr. Hair was employed by W.K. Dickson Company and retired from A.P. White Associates, then served as an independent engineering consultant. Mr. Hair’s family wishes to thank Presbyterian Home Care Hospice and Continuous Care staffs for their help and support. There will be a Memorial Service at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at the corner of 7th and Tryon Streets, Charlotte on Saturday, February 22, 2003 at 2 PM. The family will receive friends on Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Harry and Bryant Company, 500 Providence Rd. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery, off North Meeting Street, Charleston, SC on Sunday at 2:30 PM. Memorials may be sent to St. Peter’s Endowment at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church or Presbyterian Home Care Hospice. Harry and Bryant Company is serving the family of Mr. Hair
