McCLARY, Marion BISHOPVILLE, SC – Rev. Marion Cooper McClary, 76, widower of Rosanne Stanley McClary, died Monday, April 17, 2006, at his home. Born in Salters, he was a son of the late Marion Rogers McClary and the late Margaret Davis Cooper McClary. Rev. McClary was a retired United Methodist minister for 30 years having served in Turbeville, Pacolet, Walhalla, and Winnsboro. For 12 years, he was the conference coordinator for The Methodist Home in Orangeburg. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School, attended the Citadel, graduated from Wofford College, and received a Master’s Degree in Divinity from Emory University. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church at Spring Hill. Survivors include two sons, Marion McClary, Jr. and his wife, Deborah of Bishopville, and J. Earl McClary and his wife, Jenny, of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren, Rose Stewart of Bishopville, Charlotte Smith of Greenwood, Dixie Goshen of Charlotte, NC, Lindsay McClary of Bishopville, Diane McClary and Kevin McClary both of Mooresville, NC; five great-grandchildren; a niece, Lynn Parnell of Florence; and a nephew, Allen Hardy of Salters. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret McClary Hardy. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday at St. John United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vince Halter officiating. Burial will be at in the Williamsburg Cemetery in Kingstree at 5:30 P.M. Pallbearers will be grandson-in-laws, Jon Stewart, Heath Smith and Phil Goshen, and Jon Sturkie, Randy Burns, and David Hancock. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home, 2200 Spring Hill Rd., Dalzell.
