Michael Scott Nichols, age 58, of Mauldin, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022. He is survived by his sons, Hank and Luke Nichols; brother, Chris Nichols (Jenny); niece Reagan Nichols; nephew Jack Nichols and his father Fred Nichols. Preceding him in death was his loving mother, Sandra Wheeler Nichols. A lifelong resident of Greenville, Scott graduated from The Citadel in 1985. He went on to have a successful career in the waste management industry, and was a self-employed owner of several waste collection and transportation companies. Scott was a very generous, bighearted person who was always willing to help anyone in need. He cared for and considered his employees family, and was blessed to have so many whom he considered his closest friends. In addition to his employees, Scott was a loyal, giving and close friend, including to many of his customers and vendors. Scott truly valued all the close friendships he formed over the years. Scott loved to compete, was an excellent golfer and grill chef, loved pounding the speed bag at the gym, loved his border collies, and truly enjoyed working out and being outdoors. Above all, Scott loved his sons and was always supportive and proud of all their accomplishments. He enjoyed the years he spent coaching and all the great friendships formed throughout those years. Scott was very much loved and he will be greatly missed. A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes Downtown with the memorial service at 1:30 p.m. to follow in the Chapel.
