Dr. Luis E. Remus Jr., 79, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, in the Guardian House. He graduated summa cum laude in 1947 from The Citadel in South Carolina and earned his medical degree in 1951 from Duke University Medical School in Durham, N.C. He was a pathologist with a special interest in forensic pathology and SIDS research. He practiced in Jackson, Miss., Lake Charles and Lafayette before retiring in Lake Charles. He is survived by his wife, Emilia R. Remus; two sons, Dr. Luis E. Remus III of Houston, and Cesar R. Remus of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Margarita R. Remus and three grandchildren, all of Louisville, Ky.; and one sister, Brunilda Remus of San Juan, Puerto Rico. His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, from St. Margaret Catholic Church. The Rev. Danny Torres will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of the Guardian House and Odyssey Hospice for the excellent care given to Dr. Remus during his illness.
