Lawrence Robert “Larry” Fox, 69, of Georgetown, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Medical University of South Carolina. Born on July 2, 1943, in Kingstree, he was the son of the late Percy Lawrence Fox and the late Inez Walcott Fox of West Point, VA and Georgetown, SC. Mr. Fox was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Lide Williams Sunday School Class. He was a graduate of Winyah High School and The Citadel. Mr. Fox was a veteran of the US Navy and was a recipient of the South Carolina Order of the Silver Crescent, awarded for his exemplary performance and contribution to the community. Mr. Fox was involved in numerous community activities and services to include the Georgetown Planning Commission, Lions Club, Service Over Self, American Legion, Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Club, Friends of the NRA and the Jamestowne Society. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Diane Ward Fox of Georgetown; a daughter, Suzanne Walcott Fox of Georgetown and fiance; Miles West; two sons, Lawrence Warren Fox and his wife Retta of Florence and Brandon Douglas Fox and his wife Anna of Georgetown; two granddaughters, Jenna Marie Fox and Lilly Danielle Fox both of Florence; mother in law Cynthia W. Douglas of Givhans Ferry, SC; two brothers in law, Richard A. Evans and his wife Judi of Plymouth, NC and Otis C. Ward III and his wife Ann of Moncks Corner; one nephew Otis C. Ward IV of Givhans Ferry, SC; three nieces Reada Evans Sullivan and her husband Michael of Newport, RI, Joanna W. Hughes and her husband Aaron of Goose Creek and Rachel Ward of Summerville; a number of great nieces and nephews; six cousins including, Jack Feild and his wife Skip of Pawleys Island; “special” sisters, Jenny Kong and Annie and Susan Wong; and a K-9 companion, Ellie, City of Georgetown Emissary. He was preceded in death by a sister, Reada Fox Evans. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at First Baptist Church with the Dr. Ted Sherrill officiating. Burial will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery in Effingham at 4 PM. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at First Baptist Church.
