Lawrence Elbridge Remick Jr., 89, of Temple, Texas passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025. He was a Retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army and retired as a Director with global aerospace and defense technology contractor Northrup Grumman in 2006.
He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 17, 1936, to Major Lawrence Elbridge Remick Sr. and Christina Breen Kinniburgh Remick. A graduate of Heidelberg American High School, Heidelberg, Germany, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. At The Citadel, he was Company Commander of N Company and a member of the prestigious Summerall Guards. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry Branch after graduation and served honorably and with distinction during his 25-year Army career. He was a proud Green Beret whose duty assignments included service in the 82nd Airborne Division, 5th Special Forces, two tours of duty with United States Army Europe, and two tours of duty in Vietnam as an Army Intelligence Officer.
He is survived by his three children, Sheryl Jayne Remick, of Killeen, Texas, Christina Anne Remick Chapman (Kenneth) of New Braunfels, Texas, son Lawrence Elbridge Remick III of Killeen, Texas, four grandchildren Amanda Martel (Michael) of Sammamish, Washington, Holly Kubej (Jon-Henry) of Buckley, Washington, Brandon Chapman (Michaela) of Lebanon, Tennessee, Bradley Chapman of College Station, Texas and six great grandchildren (Aubrey, Jace, Jaxon, Jett, Taylor, and Wyatt).
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Margaret Deanne Waltz Remick, his mother, Christina Breen Kinniburgh Remick, father, Lawrence Elbridge Remick, Sr., sisters Jane Leigh Remick Folk, Agnes Sloan “Nancy” Remick Smith, and great grandson, Noah Thomas Martel.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Temple. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at 1:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
