Born in Jacksonville, Florida, on June 8, 1940, he was the son of the late Laurie Wells and Isabel Hinson Tomlinson. He was a proud Citadel graduate, where he also was honored to be part of the Summerall Guard. While attending the Citadel, he met his future wife, Katherine Musso, where they loved going to the Citadel dances. They were married in March of 1965 and enjoyed 57 years of a wonderful life together. Together they raised two sons, growing with a daughter-in-law and, of course, grandchildren. Laurie had a long career in sales, first starting out with Firestone in Shreveport, Louisiana and then moved to Denver, Colorado, where he was employed with Dupont and Fuji corporations in medical imaging sales, and later transferred to Germantown, TN. After retirement, they relocated to Mt. Pleasant, where he enjoyed being closer to family. Laurie (L.T.) was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending many afternoons with his golf buddies. Laurie absolutely loved the many dogs he had over his lifetime and most recently loved taking his granddaughters on walks with his dog. Laurie will always be remembered by those who knew him as a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by the love of his life, Kathy, his son, Christopher Wells Tomlinson; his son, Michael Marion Tomlinson (Elizabeth); and his granddaughters, whom he loved and adored, Sophia Katherine Tomlinson and Amelia Anne Tomlinson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joe Stephenson, Robert Musso, Patricia Scott, Nick and Linda Kobylk; along with many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer’s Association.
