Larry Rogers Stephens, 79, of Dorchester, SC, husband of Mary Cain Stephens of 1344 Zion Road entered into eternal rest on Saturday December 17, 2011 in the Hospice of Charleston facility in Mt. Pleasant. A Memorial service will be held 2 PM Monday in the Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Ronald Brewer and Robert Hoover officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 5 PM Sunday afternoon at Bryant Funeral Home, 607 North Parler Ave., St. George, SC. Larry “”Pop Pop”” was born April 2, 1932 in Dorchester a son of the late Edward Keller and Laura Iduna Clayton Stephens. He was a retired teacher at St. George High School, administrator at Clay Hill Elementary School and he loved working on his farm, Fortunate Fields. A graduate of Newberry College in 1960 and a masters degree from The Citadel in 1976, he was a Staff sergeant in the SC National Guard for 13 years. He was elected to serve on the Dorchester County District 4 Board of Trustees for a number of years. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and a former Lions Club member. Surviving is his loving wife, Mary Cain Stephens, of the home, 3 sons; Ryan Keller Stephens (Shirley), Dorchester, Lancing Stacey Stephens (Angie) Columbia, and Shannon Cain Stephens (Simona), Dorchester. Brothers; Sammy Stephens ( Joyce), St. George and Stanley “”Buddy”” Stephens, Dorchester and a sister, Valeria “”Veedie”” Welch, New Jersey. Grandchildren; Brittany Pye (Otis), Corkney Stephens, Ian Stephens, Nikolas Stephens, William “”Liam”” Stephens, Ashley S. Mitchell (Devin), Trevor Stephens, Stefan Olaru, and Gabriel Stephens, great-grandchildren; Tanya Infinger, Holly and Logan Pye. Tags: CGC 1976
