Joseph Carl “Joe” Fox, Jr., died June 29, 2014, at his residence in Beaufort, SC, following an extended illness. A Memorial service will be conducted at a time and date to be announced. He was born in Orangeburg, SC, a son of Mrs. Adele Bates Fox and the late Joseph Carl Fox. He graduated from Wade Hampton Academy and attended the Citadel. He joined Fort Sumter Petroleum Company and was General Manager of seven convenience stores. In 1988, he became a Franchisee and opened Scholotzsky’s Deli in Orangeburg. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Industry Service from Trident Technical College and graduated Cum Laude. Joe owned and operated Joe Fox’s Restaurant and Joe’s Deli in Orangeburg until he moved to Beaufort to open The Carolina Dog and Deli. He is survived by his mother of Orangeburg; a sister, Jane Fox Kabriel (Larry) of Oklahoma City, OK; and a niece, Laura Kabriel Koger (Chris) of Oklahoma City, OK. Friends may call at the residence of Mrs. Adele Fox Bailey, 310 Brewton Street, Orangeburg, SC. Memorials may be made in Joe’s memory to a charity of one’s choice .
