John Starling Clark, of Waxhaw, N.C., passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2025 surrounded by family and pets. Born in Richmond, VA in 1946, John grew up in Charlottesville where he made many lifelong friends. A proud veteran, John served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam War years. A graduate of the Citadel, John worked in business administration until his retirement. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte. John, a Master Gardener, enjoyed camping and being outdoors. He shared this love & respect for creation with his children and as an assistant scoutmaster for troop 116. John leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Carol Shepherd Clark and three children; Nathan W. Clark of Seattle, Kathryn S. Feldman of Fort Mill, and Elizabeth M. Greene of Waxhaw. Additionally, John left 6 grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Kelsey Fiedor and and husband, Spencer, Dillon Green, Mindy Greene, Samuel Feldman and Benjamin Feldman. John will be remembered for his kindness, gentle presence, and his devotion to family. He was a blessing to all who knew him. A private Memorial service will be held this Fall. Internment will be in Virginia, at the Monticello Memory Gardens.
