John H. Willis, beloved husband and father of Atlanta Georgia, formerly of Perry, Florida, passed away August 7, 2006. He was a graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina and served with honor in the US Army with tours in Korea, Vietnam, and with his final tour of duty as liaison officer with the Japanese Self Defense Force while on assignment with the American Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. He earned the Bronze Star and The Legion of Merit retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He also retired from Rollins, Inc. and was employed by Cox Enterprises until his passing. He is survived by his wife, Connie Willis; sons, John H. Willis, Jr. from Atlanta, Georgia and Donald B. Willis and wife Pamela, from Cumming, Georgia; brothers, Robert Andersen, and wife Nena, from Charlotte, North Carolina, Donald Andersen and wife Cathy, from Quincy, Florida; brother-in-law, John Ackerman (Jan) and wife Helen, from South Pasadena, Florida; sister-in-law, Molly Ackerman, from Suwanee, Georgia, and grandchildren: Austin, Cory, Katie, and Kelsey. He is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews and family. John (Johnny) will be greatly missed by his family and friends. John attended the Christian Science Church in Atlanta, Georgia and was loved and respected by all. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to celebrate his life when his brothers return to the United States. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Atlanta, Georgia, or The American Cancer Society. Arrangements by R.T.
