Dr. John F. Isaac, 84, of Columbia, peacefully passed away at his home Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Born May 6, 1933 in Georgetown, SC, he was the son of the late John Isaac of Hyattsville, MD and late Maggie Isaac of Georgetown. Dr. Isaac graduated from the Citadel, Class of 1956. He received his Master’s and Doctorate Degrees from the University of Georgia. Dr. Isaac was a Captain in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958, where he was a Battery Commander at Fort Bliss. He taught Special Education and Psychology at West Georgia College and Columbia College. Dr. Isaac worked 19 years before retiring as a Director of Education and a School Psychologist at Midlands Center in Columbia. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Dr. Isaac· is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret; two sons, Mike (Karla) of Columbia and Tim (Beverly) of Gilbert; four grandchildren, Michael (Adam), Dr. Mitchell (Dr. Julianne), Matthew, and Rachel; two great grandsons, Kaleb and Keegan; a brother, Dr. Robert Isaac (Brenda) of Athens, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 o’clock, Sunday, February 25th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
