John Edward Seknicka, age 87, a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama, died Friday, January 16, 2026 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anne Seknicka; two children, Nancy Seknicka Kimberlin and her husband, Richard of Houston, Texas and John “Ted” E. Seknicka, Jr. and his wife, Tami, of Edmond, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Kevin Kimberlin and his wife, Amanda, Connor Kimberlin and his wife Lauren, Paige Seknicka, and Adam Seknicka; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Kimberlin and Mason Kimberlin. He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. Seknicka and Edna P. Seknicka.
John was a 1961 graduate of the Citadel with a BS in Civil Engineering, graduated from the University of West Virginia in 1963 with a MS in Civil Engineering, and served in the United States Air Force from 1963 – 1966. He worked as a Civil Engineer in New Orleans, Houston, Mobile and the Gulf Coast Region. He was a member of several beloved Mystic Societies and was an avid hunter and fisherman. John will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (in the Little Church). The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 4051 Old Shell Road, Mobile, Alabama 36608 or a charity of your choice.
