John E. Gibbons, 72, of Framingham, MA, died Sunday, March 12, 2017 after a long illness. Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Thomas & Helen (Honen) Gibbons. John was a graduate of Marian High School, and a 1968 graduate of the Citadel where he majored in political science. He served with the Military Police Corps for 2 years in Vietnam, was honorably discharged, and later served with the MA Army National Guard. He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Gibbons of Hampton, NH, 3 grandchildren, his brother, Thomas M. Sr. & his wife Jacqueline of Franklin, and many nieces, nephews, & cousins. Family and friends will honor and remember Johns life by gathering for visiting hours at the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham on Thursday, March 16th from 4-8 P.M. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning in St. Stephens Church, 221 Concord St., at 10 oclock. Interment will follow in St. Stephens Cemetery.
