John Adam Mojcher, age 96, of Stratford, CT, beloved husband of Mary Hricek Mojcher, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2015, in Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his loving family by his side. John was born on September 2, 1919 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Michael and Anna Kochiss Mojcher. A lifetime resident of the Bridgeport area, John attended Harding High School and furthered his education at the Citadel College. He taught chemistry at Bullard Havens High School, Kolbe High School and the Bridgeport Engineering Institute and later became head of the Adult Education Program at Bullard Havens. John ended his professional career at Norwalk State Technical College, where he was associate dean of the evening program. A lover of sports, he played second base on many Bridgeport area teams and also was an avid bowler. In later years, John enjoyed watching tennis, the Mets and all Boston College Sports. He will be missed by many, especially his family. In addition to his beloved wife, Mary of 70 years, John is also survived by one son, Russell Mojcher and wife Gail, of Millsboro, DE, one daughter, Patricia Sidlovsky and husband Albert, of Farmington, five grandchildren, Joanne Grant and husband Josh, of Oakland, CA, Joseph Sidlovsky and wife Nichole, of New Orleans, LA, Peter Sidlovsky of Charleston, SC, Alexander and Nicole Mojcher of Millsboro, DE, one sister, Mary Skibek of Monroe and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his cherished parents, John was also predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Michael and Frank Mojcher and one sister, Anna Buckmir. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 9:00 AM at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford and at 10:00 AM at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, 79 Church Street, Bridgeport where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Msgr. Joseph W. Pekar. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery Stratford.
