Jennings Bryan Thames Jr. (JB), of Cameron, NC, went to be with his heavenly father on June 3, 2023. He is preceded by his parents Jennings Bryan Thames, Sr. and Eula Bell Thames; one brother, Ray Thames; one son, Robert Ray Thames, and one daughter, Rosemary.
Jennings Bryan Thames Jr. is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Nancy Thames; sons, Jennings Bryan Thames, lll, and Tony (Becky); daughter, Kathy (Alex); brother, Lamar Thames; in-laws Barbara Larson, Peggy North, Billy and Jewel Meadows, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Jennings Bryan Thames, Jr. was a proud veteran of the United States Army. At the age of 19 he enlisted into the Army. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Captain of the Special Forces / Green Beret of the 5th regiment. As part of his service he did 2 tours to Vietnam, where he earned a Purple Heart, Silver Service Star, Vietnam service medal, Army Commendation medal, National Defense Service medal, Parachuting Badge, and Expert Rifle (Rifle M-14). After his service in the army he became Commander of the ROTC that covered the entire the east coast. He received many other awards throughout his military career and was a member of the community acting and singing theater. He graduated from the Citadel, of Charleston, SC.
There will be a visitation for family and friends on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 11:00am until 12:00pm at Adcock Funeral Home, Spring Lake. A graveside service will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens, Spring Lake at 12:30pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Carpenters to Christ Fund. Services entrusted to Adcock Funeral Home and Crematory, Spring Lake.
