J.W. “Bill” Raybourne, 76, of Lexington, passed away Sat., Feb. 17, 2018. He was born Aug. 22, 1941 in Conway, SC to the late Bill and Annie Rose Raybourne. Mr. Raybourne was admitted to The Citadel, the military college of SC in Charleston where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and graduated with the class of 1963. He was a member of St. Stephen Church in St. Stephen, SC. He worked for the IRS for five years in Charleston, SC. He was promoted to a position in Washington, DC, where he developed one of the two audit programs that existed through the 1980`s. After that he took a position with IBM as a systems analyst and programmer, working on the lunar landing program with Apollo Missions 8 – 13 in Cape Kennedy, FL (AKA Cape Canaveral). He was later promoted and transferred to Lexington, where he retired. After retirement he took a position with Blue Grass Memorial Gardens where he worked as a family service counselor and was in the top 10 of producers nationwide for eleven of his fourteen years with SCI. Surviving relatives include his former wife and best friend, Sandi Perry; three children, “Dusty” Maher, Bill (Kathy) Raybourne and Matt (Kelly) Gamlin; five grandchildren, Jordan and Jasmin Maher, Jacob Raybourne, Scott and Brandon Hartfield; a sister, Anna Jean Funk; niece, Stacia Dobbins and several special cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Mon., Feb. 26, 2018 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home – Harrodsburg Road. Entombment will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. on Sun., Feb. 25, 2018 at the funeral home.
