Lt. Col James Thomas Gallahorn, III., U.S. Army, 82, of North Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Patricia Carter Gallahorn entered into eternal rest Tuesday, April 3, 2018. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 5, 2018 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 6, 2018 in Saint James Church, 1872 Camp Road at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Saint James Churchyard. James was born July 2, 1935 in Takoma Park, Maryland, son of the late James Thomas Gallahorn, Jr., and Olga Maria Elvera Marseglia Gallahorn. He was a 1957 graduate of The Citadel where he was a member of The Summerall Guards. A U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserve Veteran with the rank of Lt. Colonel. James was a veteran of the Vietnam War and his overseas duty assignments included Korea and Germany. He was retired from Lockheed Missiles and Space Company. James was raised in the Italian Baptist Church, in Washington, DC, where his grandfather “Marseglia” was the minister. He was a former member of St. James Episcopal Church, where he was very active and a member of the Vestry. He was also a former member of Christ Church, in Mt. Pleasant, and currently a member of Holy Cross Anglican Church of Sullivan Island, SC. James was an avid genealogist, and a member of the Optimist club and a member of the South Carolina Sons of the American Revolution. He also enjoyed playing bridge, and dancing. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Gallahorn of North Charleston, SC; father-in-law, Marlyn Carter of North Charleston, SC; two sons, Robert Gallahorn (Donna) and Richard Gallahorn (Jan Callicott-Colley) all of James Island, SC; daughter, Olga Gallahorn Odeide of Alexandria, VA; three step-daughters, Karen Whipple (Raymond) of Jedburg, SC, Pamela Woods (Gregory) of Goose Creek, SC, and Tracey Graham (Sean) of Goose Creek, SC; five grandchildren, Sarah, Jake, Erin and Matthew Gallahorn, and Nancy Burnham; eight step-grandchildren, Milton Carson, III, Clayton Carson, Brittany, Shane and Justin Woods; Chase and Chesney Graham, and Katelyn Whipple; great-grandson, Jack Burnham, and three step-great-grandchildren, Ayden, Liam and Brallen Woods; and many loving extended family members. He was predeceased in death by his first wife, Bonnie Blackburn Gallahorn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Citadel Foundation, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409.
