Mr. English was born and raised and spent most of his life in Jacksonville, FL, later moving to Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He served in the US Army Air Corps in WWII and after the war attended The Citadel, graduating in 1951 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He began working for the city of Jacksonville, becoming City Engineer of Jacksonville and was eventually chosen as Director of Public Works. He retired from the city of Jacksonville to take a position as VP of Gee & Jenson Consulting Engineers, Inc. Mr. English is survived by his wife, Dolores English, of Palm Beach Gardens; twin sons, Dr. J. Martin English (Anita) of Dallas, Texas, and Dr. Stephen C. English (Linda) of Jacksonville, FL; stepdaughters Audrey L. Yeager (Terry) of Jupiter, FL, and Karen L. Howell (David) of Morganton, NC; brother Glen English (Jerrie) of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. English was predeceased by his wife Betty in 1986. Funeral services will be held Tues., June 5, 2007 at 11am at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County.
