James Gilbert Homan of New Berlin, WI was peacefully born to eternal life, surrounded by his whole family on August 9, 2023 at the age of 66. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Beth S. Homan (nee Satorius), his sons David (Kristin), Christopher (Caroline), Dustin (Alli), granddaughters, Avery and Quinn, sisters, Barbara (the late Stuart) Kolner, Elizabeth (Joe) Zagar, Margaret (Jorge) Plasencia, and Mary Homan, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Mr. Homan taught his “tiny people” for 37 wonderful years at Brookfield Academy, where he won numerous state, regional, and national awards for several programs he developed, including the Brookfield Academy Mini Economy, or BAME.
Always ready for a challenge, he walked from Mobile, AL to Brookfield; paddled a canoe down the Mississippi River from La Crosse, WI to New Orleans, LA; walked 50 miles in a day at age 50 and pedaled a bicycle from Yorktown, VA to the Oregon coast at age 60.
Jim would have liked us to celebrate a life well lived, so please consider wearing bright cheerful clothing.
Visitation at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 16000 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Additional visitation at Holy Apostles Catholic Church will be Friday, August 18, 2023 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. All are invited to pray the Rosary in the church sanctuary at 10:45 AM, prior to the start of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
