James Edwin Knight, Sr., of Wilmington, N.C., died Thursday, May 30, 2024. He was born in Goldsboro, NC on January 9, 1933, to Eugene Bridgers Knight and Maude Frink Knight.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Emily Anne Knight; brothers: Eugene S. Knight (Margaret), John B. Knight (Louise), W. Alan Knight and J. Harry Knight; as well as sisters: Emily Knight and Janice High(Ed).
Mr. Knight attended public schools in Goldsboro, NC and graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, SC. After 36 years of service, he retired from the Employment Security Commission of North Carolina. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Masonboro Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sons: Jim Knight and Brock Knight, both of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren: Ethan, Savannah, Chandler and Wyatt; sister in law Larlie Mae Knight and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Oakdale Cemetery, 520 N. 15th St. Wilmington, NC. with Reverend Johnny Branch officiating.
