Mr. Jackson Jack Lee Watts III passed away Sunday evening July 13, 2003, at the Lower Keys Medical Center. Jack was a native of Sumter, S.C., the son of Jackson Lee Watts Jr. and Sylvia Poole Watts. Jack was a 1983 graduate of the Thomas Sumter Academy in Sumter, and a 1987 graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Oswego, S.C. Jack lived in Charleston and Atlanta before moving to Key West 10 years ago. Jack loved Key West and was very active with AIDS Help Inc.; he also helped form the Key West Wellness Connection. Jack had worked as a counselor. Survivors include his father, Jackson Lee Watts Jr. of Surfside Beach, S.C.; and mother, Sylvia Poole Watts of Fort Mill, S.C.; two brothers, Chris Watts of Fort Mill and Ronnie Watts of Murrells, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Julie Watts of Fort Mill; and maternal grandmother, Sophie Poole of Columbia, S.C. Many dear friends in Key West also survive. A memorial Celebration of Jack’s Life is being held at 7 p.m. tonight on the White Street Pier at the AIDS Memorial with the Rev. Arlo Peterson officiating. In lieu of flowers, it’s requested that memorial donations be made in Jack’s memory to AIDS Help/Wellness Connection or to AIDS Help Inc., 1434 Kennedy Drive, Key West, Fla., 33040. Dean-Lopez Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Key West is in charge of arrangements
