Hodges T. “Buck” Harmon, 86, born in Lexington, SC September 9, 1921, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2008. He was the son of Hollie and Sadie Harmon. Mr. Harmon was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Newberry College Indians Club, Lexington Lions Club, American Legion Post 7, founding member of the Lexington Arts Association, long-time chairman of Lexington County Forestry Commission, Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the 2nd Infantry Division in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge where he was wounded in both battles. He was a Lexington county farmer and retired from his family business, H. L. Harmon Insurance Agency. Mr. Harmon was affectionally known as the Lexington Historian. He traveled the world over, but always felt, “there is no place like Lexington”. Mr. Harmon is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rebecca Dixon Harmon of Lexington; daughter, Nancy Harmon Sinclair and husband, Sutton of Lexington; son, Hollie Harmon of Lexington; sisters, Betsy Ellison of Winnsboro and Sadie Lee Miller of Lexington; grandchildren, Timothy Sinclair and wife, Cassie, Gabrielle Sinclair and Rachel Sinclair. He was predeceased by his parents and daughter, Harriet Harmon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 119 N. Church Street, Lexington, SC 29072.
