Herman Netter, 87, of Bloomfield Hills, died Aug. 8, 2004, at Boulevard Hills Nursing Home in Rochester Hills. He was born Jan. 14, 1917, in Duluth, Minn. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Netter, his children, Mary Cay Brady-Stevens and William (Kim) Netter and his six grandchildren. Mr. Netter grew up in Wauwatosa, Wis., and attended the Citadel the renowned military college in South Carolina. He graduated in 1940 with a degree in business administration and a commission as a second lieutenant in the Officers Reserve Corps. He was called to active duty Jan. 1, 1941, and served for six and a half years, returning to active reserve with the rank of major. He had various assignments while on duty, including teaching German and Japanese armored tactics at the Tank Destroyer School at Camp Hood, Tex., attending Military Intelligence School and serving as a defense counsel on a general court. He came to Michigan to work for Ford Motor Co. from 1948-1958. From 1958-1968, he was a salesman for the Delman Company selling windshield washing equipment and other products to Ford. He left Delman in 1968 and started his own sales company, Netter Associates. He sold wiring harnesses, ring and pinion gears and several other products to Ford and Chrysler. He retired in 1982 and enjoyed downhill skiing. He was a volunteer at William Beaumont Hospital for 15 years. Funeral arrangements were handled by William Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile, Royal Oak; burial, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield; memorials, Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
