Henry Bascom Floyd III, 80, of Huntsville died Thursday. Mr. Floyd was born in South Carolina. He received his undergraduate degree in engineering at the Citadel and received his master’s in the same at Georgia Tech. While with DuPont, he built chemical plants in the Southeast U.S., and he built and managed aerospace installations for the U.S. Air Force in North Carolina. He was also involved in the management of research projects in Huntsville while with NASA before his retirement in 1975. A veteran of World War II, he was on active duty in the U.S. Naval Reserve during 1945-46 aboard the U.S.S. Cordoba. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Rubie Fore Floyd; three daughters; one son; one sister; six grandsons; one great-grandson; and two great-grand-daughters. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today from Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday from the funeral home with burial following in Maple Hill Cemetery.
