Harvey “Skip” Mandel, 82, of Charleston, South Carolina, beloved husband, father and grandfather entered into eternal rest Wednesday, April 23, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held at the graveside, Friday, April 25, 2014 in Brith Sholom Beth Israel Cemetery “Maryville”, Sycamore Avenue at a time to be announced. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Skip was born July 6, 1931, in New York City. He was the son of Irving and Charlotte Greenwald Mandel. Skip was a 1953 graduate of the Citadel and served in Korea retiring as a First Lieutenant. He was a retired sales representative with Lawyers Co-Op Publishing Co. He was a member of Brith Sholom Beth Israel Synagogue, Charleston Jewish Community Center and Federation, the Masons, The Scottish Rite, The Citadel Alumni Association, SC Jewish Historical Society and the Hebrew Benevolent Society. Skip is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann Livingstain Mandel, son, Robert L. (Caryn) of Kansas City, KS, daughters: Lynda M. (William) Horowitz of Coral Springs, FL and Laurie M. (Mark) Feldman of Deerfield, IL and grandchildren: Ashley Horowitz, Rebecca Horowitz, Eric Feldman, Hannah Feldman, Jeri Ann Freirich, Joie Beth Freirich and Spencer Mandel. He was predeceased by his brother Bert Mandel. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Skip’s caretakers Iris Sharper, Sonja Hearn and others as well as Ahava Hospice.
