Harry David Brannen Jr., of Saint Johns, Fla., known to friends as “Dave” passed peacefully Saturday August 31st 2019 at the age of 76. He was born in St Petersburg Florida on April 21, 1943 to the late Harry D. and Helen (Moran) Brannen. Dave attended The Citadel, and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He was a member of Celebration Lutheran Church and belonged to the Northeast Florida Citadel Alumni Club. He worked for Bono’s Pit BBQ in different capacities for many years and had retired from the restaurant business. Dave’s passion was food and he enjoyed cooking for family, friends, and his church. He enjoyed coaching both baseball and softball for his children and was an avid team bowler for years winning numerous awards. Dave enjoyed serving his church in different capacities including working at his church’s food bank. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Brannen of Jacksonville, Fl.; his children Lisa Hawkins (Bruce), David Jeffrey Brannen, Cindy Murrell (Ace); his grandchildren, Savannah Culverhouse, Hannah Collett, Justin Brannen, Olivia Hardwick, Andrew Richardson, Christian Murrell, Emily Hatcher, Corbin Murrell and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Daniel G. Brannen and son John M. Brannen.
A memorial will be held at Hardage-Giddens 1801 San Jose Boulevard Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday September 28th at 10:30am. In Lieu of Flowers the family asks for donations be made in Dave’s name to the Food Bank at Celebration Lutheran Church 810 Roberts Road, St Johns Florida 32259.
