Gordon S. French, 75, of Tampa, died peacefully in his sleep Monday, December 5, 2011. Born in 1936 in Exeter, N.H., Gordon grew up in Pittsfield, N.H., and Rochester, N.Y. In 1958 he graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. He then completed military service in the U.S. Air Force and National Guard, and had a successful career as a marketing and advertising executive specializing in the senior living industry. Known for entertaining a room with his bold sense of humor, Gordon is loved by many. He was preceded in death by Sandra Bach French, wife of 33 years; mother, Marjorie Dennett French; father, Kendrick Stephen French; and grandson, Benjamin Thomas Casper. He is survived by brother, Peter Linn French of Deltona, Fla.; daughters and sons-in-law, Kendra French Miller and Michael of Windsor, Colo.; Julie Denise French of Atlanta, Ga.; Andrea French Casper and Christopher of Tampa; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Bradley French and Kimberly of Tampa; dear friend, Ann Kepley of Columbia, S.C.; and nine grandchildren, Haley, Ellery and Merritt Miller of Windsor; Grace, Claire, Sarah and Stephen Casper of Tampa; and Bradley and Carter French of Tampa. Memorial gifts may be made to the Children’s Cancer Center, 4901 W. Cypress St., Tampa, FL 33607. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Tampa. Tags: 1958
