Colonel Glenn Douglas Addison (USAFR, Ret.), 60, died peacefully in his Mount Pleasant, SC home on December 27, 2017. A decorated veteran of Desert Storm, he commanded the Services Squadron in Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia; he served as Chief of Intelligence and as Support Group Commander at McEntire Air National Guard Base, South Carolina, and served in the US Air Force Reserve as Southeastern Regional Reserve Director for the Air Force National Security Emergency Preparedness Agency (AFNSEP). Glenn retired from service in 2009 with full honors. Glenn was born on September 4, 1957, in Newport News, Virginia, to Dr. and Mrs. Gene Calvin Addison and grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, where he was a 1975 graduate of A.C. Flora High School. Glenn went on to attend The Citadel and was a beloved member of the Class of 1979. He was elected by the Legislature to serve as a member of The Citadel Board of Visitors from 2002-2014. He was Vice-Chairman of the Board for 4 years of his service. Glenn was a member of St. Andrew’s Church and became a guiding light and inspiration to many as he responded to the love of our Heavenly Father. He was also an active member of many community organizations, including the Rotary Club, Kappa Alpha Order, and the Washington Light Infantry. Glenn spent over 30 years in the medical sales industry in roles including Vice President/Partner for Transmedical; as well as a Senior Sales Specialist for Merck Pharmaceuticals. He retired from his medical sales career in 2014; he then entered a new career with Wilmar, Inc., as the Sales Manager for South Carolina. Glenn was known for his wit and zest for life. He could tell a story like no other, and he never met a strangerhe was a true friend to all. He is survived by his wife, Ann; sons, Taylor and Joseph; daughter, Regan; mother, Betty Addison; brother, Dan; sisters, Janet Shealy and Amy Louthian; mother-in-law, Therese Regan; and many loving family members. He is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Gene C. Addison. A visitation will take place at the J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, on Friday, December 29, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at The Citadel Summerall Chapel at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 30, 2017, with a reception to follow. The burial will take place at a later date in the Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC, with full military honors. Funeral arrangements are provided by J.
