Gerard William (Jerry) Dupuy, 67, of Summerville, SC, husband of Cheryl May Jessup, died on August 2, 2010 at Hospice Center of Charleston in Mount Pleasant, SC. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 2 o’clock PM at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 South Main Street, Summerville. A gathering of friends and family will be on Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 6 until 8 o’clock PM at the funeral home. Jerry was born on May 25, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA, son of Jeanette M. Schaeffer Dupuy and the late Gerard S. Dupuy. He was a graduate of Summerville High School, Class of 1962 and was also a graduate of The Citadel, Class of 1966. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, flying private airplanes, boats, snow skiing, water skiing, camping and scuba diving. He was a member of a motorcycle organization called Goldwing Road Riders Association (G.W.R.R.A.) S.C. Chapter G. He served in the United States Army and retired as an insulation contractor. Surviving in addition to his wife Cheryl and mother are: 3 Daughters: Ammie Lee Rasmussen, Kerry Ann Hankinson and Michelle Leeann Dupuy; 3 Sons: Arthur Caswell Dupuy, Gerard Severin Dupuy and David William Dupuy; 3 Granddaughters: Katelyn Brooke Hankinson, Caroline Elizabeth Hankinson and Analee Grace Hankinson; 2 Grandsons: Henry Wilfred Hankinson, IV and Ethan Keith Carr. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Roper St. Francis Cancer Center, 125 Doughty Street, Suite 790, Charleston, SC 29403.
