George P. Montis, 70, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, died on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. Born on August 15, 1943 in Savannah, GA, he was the son of the late Patrick and Lily (nee Eliopolo) Montis. George graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, SC in 1965 and later received his JD degree from Woodrow Wilson School of Law in Atlanta, GA. He practiced law in Atlanta for a number of years before moving to Savannah where he headed an asset management firm and a real estate development company. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Gibbons Montis; a daughter, Elizabeth Julia Montis; and son-in-law, Steven Thomas Smith of Jacksonville, FL. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach with The Rt. Rev. Edward Chalfant, D.D. officiating. A graveside service at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA will be held at a later date.
