Frank Lander Grubb Jr., age 74, of Laurens, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on September 24, 2011 at his home in Laurens, SC as a result of congestive heart failure. Frank was born on April 1, 1937 in Abbeville, SC and was the son of the late Frank Lander Grubb Sr. and Ruth Blanchett Grubb. His family moved to Charleston, SC where Frank attended Porter-Gaud prep school then graduated from The Citadel in Business Administration with the class of 1958. His early years were spent serving his country as a Captain in the United States Army with a tour of service in Korea and a second as a communications officer in Vietnam. As a teenager, Frank had worked in the soda shop of the King Street Pharmacy in Charleston which sparked a life long interest that would lead to a BS in Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina in 1972, and a second career as a pharmacist for Revco which later merged into CVS Pharmacy. His affable personality and exemplary skill as a druggist made Frank an integral part of the fabric of South Carolina communities in Columbia, West Columbia, Newberry, Gaffney, and Clinton for the next 30 years. His faith, discipline, generosity, and love for family leave an indelible mark for those whom were the fortunate recipients of his lifelong gifts. Surviving are his: wife of 12 years Betty Edwards Grubb of Laurens, SC, former wife of 28 years Sylvia Brooks Grubb of West Columbia, SC, sister Valerie Grubb McMillan of Summerville, SC, son Frank Lander Grubb III of Duluth, GA, daughter Mary Elizabeth Grubb of Kihei, HI, grandson, Dillan Emory Riter of San Francisco, CA, and granddaughters, Allison Quinne Grubb and Mary Lucille Grubb of Duluth, GA. He also leaves step children Lisa Mann of Waterloo, SC, Wyman Mann of Waterloo, SC and Step-Grandchildren Elanna Mann of Laurens, SC and Dallion Mann of Waterloo, SC. Besides his parents, Frank is predeceased by his brother James Robert Grubb III (September 28, 1983), and sister Jennifer Grubb Watson (March 22, 2005). There will be a memorial service at 11 am, Friday, September 30, 2011, at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel, 606 West Main Street, Laurens, SC 29360, 864-984-4535.
