Floyd Eric Williams, Jr., age 85, died Saturday, September 18, 2010, at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville following a brief illness. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Harrison United Methodist Church in Pineville, NC, with the Rev. Timothy Webster officiating and the Rev. J. Thomas Williams assisting. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Born in Greenville, SC, Mr. Williams was a son of the late Floyd Eric Williams, Sr. (d. 1995) and Helen Ruth Hunnicutt Williams (d. 1991). Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, graduated from The Citadel and received a Master’s degree from Georgia Tech in 1950. He was formerly employed with Monsanto and retired from Springs Industries in 1988. Mr. Williams was a member of Harrison United Methodist Church, and a former resident of Indian Land, SC and Hilton Head Island, SC. Surviving are two daughters, Diana Lynn Williams of Chapel Hill, NC and Mary Anne Kreibich and her husband, Dennis, of Indian Land; his brother, the Rev. J. Thomas Williams of Marion, SC; his sister, Mary Lou Williams of Greenville, SC; and two grandchildren, Emily and Charlotte Kreibich. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Margaret Morrison Williams (d. 1989) and his son, Richard Eric Williams (d. 1978). The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Harrison United Methodist Church and also following the 3 p.m. funeral at the home of Mary Anne and Dennis Kreibich.
