Everett Dale Hockenberry Jr, born March 15, 1940, passed away, May 3, 2024, at the age of 84 in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Everett was born in Pittsburg, PA and was a well-rounded young man. He was a student athlete, musician, and an eagle scout. He always had a heart to serve and desired to join the military just like his dad. And he did just that.
Upon graduating high school, he was accepted to the Citadel in Charleston, SC, where he excelled both as a student and as a cadet. After completing his education in 1962, he was commissioned as a regular officer in the United States Air Force. He proudly served our nation for eight years before returning to the private sector to work in the family business, eventually finding his niche in corporate insurance. Later, in his retirement years, he turned his passion for mathematics and his computer savvy skills into his new job, teaching Information Technology at the local college. He so enjoyed passing on his knowledge to the next generation.
Everett was a member of the American Legion, a Deacon, and a Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed boating, hunting, and fishing. He instilled in his family a strong sense of patriotism and service mindedness. He was a beloved son and brother, a faithful and loving husband, and he was a proud, doting father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Family togetherness meant everything to him.
If he were here today, he would remind you to “keep your flag flying and your powder dry and to watch your six”.
Everett is survived by his wife Mrs. Robbie Fowler Hockenberry, his son Everett Dale (Diann) Hockenberry III, his son William Scott (Mya) Hockenberry. He leaves behind seven grandchildren; Everett IV, Jaci, Emily, Mary, Joshua, Cameron, Courtney, and five great grandchildren; Lily, Leah, Everett V, Norah, and Mila. Preceding him in death are his parents Everett Dale (Mary) Hockenberry Sr. and his brother John Edward (Linda) Hockenberry.
