Eugene Henry Moses III, 84, of Sumter, husband of Rosemary Kickliter Moses to whom he was married for 59 years, died Thursday, December 19, 2013. Born in Sumter, he was the son of the late E. H. Moses, Jr. and Marion DuBose Knight Moses. Mr. Moses was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. Gene attended Belmont Abbey Prep School and graduated from Edmunds High School and The Citadel, where he was a member of the golf team. He was President of SIFCO Industries which was founded by his grandfather in 1890. He was the founder of Security Management. He served on the C & S National Bank and Sumter YMCA boards. He was a member of the Assembly, Trian and Thalian Clubs. Gene also belonged to the Sunset Country Club, where he held the course record for over 20 years. Gene served at Ramey Air Force Base, Puerto Rico during the Korean War. He was an avid golfer, duck hunter and offshore fisherman. Surviving is his wife of Sumter; 2 daughters, Elizabeth Moses Hancock (Bobby) of Hilton Head, Mary Frances Moses Morton (Jim) of Rock Hill; 3 sons, John Dowlin Moses (Emily) of Columbia, Charles Neil Moses of Myrtle Beach and Miles Moran Moses of Pawleys Island; 9 grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at 10 A.M. Monday at St Anne Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Burke, C.Ss.R officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and also following the service in the St. Anne Parish Hall.
