Ernest (Buddy) Heinsohn Bowie, Jr., age 66, of Jamestown, NC, died at High Point Regional Hospital on May 1, 2013 after a long fight with pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Nancy McClure Bowie. Born March 19th, 1947 in Florence, SC, He graduated from the Citadel in 1968 with a degree in electrical engineering. Ernest served from 1969-1972 in the Army at Fort Ord, California, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. Ernest lived in Jamestown, NC for the last thirty years and worked at Duke Energy until retiring in 2003 after thirty-five years. Survivors include his son Ernest (Beau) H. Bowie, III and wife Kim of Jamestown, NC and daughter Christine Bowie Morrison and husband Michael of Jamestown, NC. Four grandchildren Ernest (Boyd) H. Bowie IV, Hannah M. Morrison, Charles (Bray) B. Bowie and Michael Craige Morrison III. His sisters Ann B. Love of Taylorsville, SC and Gay Reames of Charlotte, NC. And many other cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11 at Oakdale Methodist Church, 534 Oakdale Rd., Jamestown, NC. Relatives and friends are welcome at 406 Spring Rd., Jamestown, NC after the service. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Citadel Regimental Band and Pipes Association.
