She was the daughter of Elizabeth Marie Truett Jones (Granny) and the late Thomas Richard Jones, III (Gramp) and was a true “Navy Brat” in her youth. She graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelors Degree and also obtained her Masters +30 from The Citadel. Beth spent over 30 years as a Special Education Teacher and School Psychologist with both Charleston County and Berkeley County School Districts. She and her husband Joe attended Northbridge Baptist Church every Sunday with Granny and were also members of the Charleston Yacht Club where they attended many events. Newly married to the love of her life, she and Joe enjoyed every minute of their time together. They made the absolute most of life and loved chasing sunsets and playing tourist in their beautiful city. She read the Charleston Scene every week and she would plan ahead for them to attend a different event each weekend. Beth and Joe were true soulmates and wherever they went, people cheerfully commented on their doting love for one another and constant hand-holding. She was always a perfect lady and called Joe her perfect man- except, of course, when she was correcting his grammar that she lovingly worked on with him all the time 🙂 Beth loved spending time at her family’s beach house on Folly Beach and recently headed a large- scale landscaping project there. She was so excited to see her new plants and flowers every time she and Lizz went there each week to reset the house for the next guests. This was just one of their many weekly bonding experiences. Beth is survived by her husband Joseph Murphy; her mother, Elizabeth Marie Truett Jones; Children, Elizabeth “Lizz” G. Taylor and Jeffrey C. Taylor; Nephews, Timothy S. Jones and Thomas R. Jones V; Step- children, Teresa Rayfield and her husband Shane, Thomas Murphy and his wife Nikki, and Melissa Copeland and her husband Tomelex; as well as six grandchildren and five grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Commander Thomas Richard Jones III who was a Blue Angel Pilot, fought in Korea and WWII and received the Navy Cross, as well as her brother, retired Chief Petty Officer Thomas Richard Jones IV. Beth loved all flowers, so all flowers are graciously accepted. Arrangements by James A. McAlister Inc. 766-1365. Visit our guestbook at www.legacy.com/obituaries/ charleston
