BANNER, Edwin Clyde Jr., 91, of Roanoke, died Sunday, May 11, 2003. A native of Mount Airy, N.C., he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Hendren Banner. He attended Citadel Military College of South Carolina. He was a retired General Adjuster for SGS North America, Inc., formerly General Adjustment Bureau (GAB) of Roanoke, Va. with 36 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Salem, Va., a former member of the Kiwanis and Roanoke Elks Club #197, former member of the Insurance Association of Virginia and the Men’s Garden Club. He is survived by his wife, Eura West Banner; one daughter, Sherry S. Banner of Blacksburg, Va.; two sons, Colonel (Retired) Edwin (Dwin) Clyde Banner, III and his wife, Herminia and James Matthew (Mac) Hale Banner and his wife, Linda Repass Banner of Singapore; one grandchild, Jennifer Sue Banner of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Steven Scott Banner and his wife, Helen of Mount Airy, N.C.; one niece and two nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Mount Airy, N.C. at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cave Spring Rescue Squad in Roanoke, the Rescue Mission at 402 Fourth Street, S.E. Roanoke or the American Red Cross at 352 Church Avenue, S.W. Roanoke. Arrangements by John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.
