Edward was born June 5, 1938, in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Edward Walter Weekley, Sr. and Mable Cooper Weekley. He grew up in the West Ashley area and remained a proud Charlestonian his entire life. He graduated from St. Andrews High School in 1956, where he played baseball, track, football and basketball. He was also a Class of 1960 Citadel graduate, where he played sports and was a member of the Honor Committee. He was known throughout the community as Eddie. Eddie was a successful realtor and developer for over 40 years in the Charleston area. He was a man of strong faith and spent much of his life volunteering at soup kitchens and participating in Kairos, the prison ministry. For all the sports he played, his passion was baseball! Eddie spent many years refereeing and coaching American Legion Baseball. He was a loyal follower and supporter of his beloved Citadel Bulldogs! But if there were lights on at any field, he was there with his folding chair, to watch! He enjoyed it on every level whether it be little league, college or professional ball. How fitting for Eddie to leave us on “OPENING DAY” of college baseball. He was a wonderful friend to many and loved his family and friends so much. Eddie is survived by the love of his life, Marsha Starling of Mt Pleasant; sister, Louise Deveaux (Jimmy)of Charleston; sons, Walt (Lori) of Meggett, SC, Ryan (Jeanne) of James Island, SC; five grandchildren, Austin Weekley (Daleigh), Tyler Weekley (Emile), Abigail Weekley, Cooper Weekley and McGuire Weekley; great-granddaughter, Kinsey Weekley; nephew, Jamie Deveaux (Sallie); nieces, Cassie Deveaux Henry and Mary Deveaux Hudson (Lee); great-nieces, Amanda Hudson, Caroline Deveaux; great-nephews, Ryan Henry, Riley Henry, Maxwell Hudson, James Deveaux, Wyatt Hudson; and his extended family, Austin Starling, Stacy Starling and their two sons, Adam and Cole Starling.
