AURORA, IL. – Edward W. Brandon, III, 72, of Aurora, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2006. He was born in Savannah, Ga. on December 3, 1933, the son of Edward W. Brandon, Jr. and Mae (McConnel) Brandon. Edward graduated from The Citadel in 1956. Among the awards and decorations, Lieutenant Colonel earned the Legion of Merit, The Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation with 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Germany), Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 10 year device, Vietnam Campaign Medal. Lieutenant Colonel Brandon retired as Marmion’s Senior Army Instructor following the conclusion of the 1996-1997 academic year. In addition to his duties as SAI, Colonel Brandon coached football and track. Since his retirement, Ed continued to serve his community as substitute instructor, coach and statistician for the Marmion athletic program. Ed was a charter member of Bethany of Fox Valley United Methodist Church. He served on many committees including the Board of Trustees. He is survived by his beloved wife, Antje; his loving children, Susanna Brandon, Dorothey Rynearson, Stefanie (Joe) Fahey and Edward W. Brandon, IV; his cherished grandchildren, Joseph Fahey, Adrienne Brandon and Eric Fahey and dear brother, William (Marie) Brandon. His parents and a sister, Caroline Kinsey, precced him in death. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2006 at Bethany of Fox Valley United Methodist Church, 2200 Ridge Ave. in Aurora. The family will be receiving guests from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2002 at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery.
