Edward “Ed” M. Kasper M.D., of Belleair Bluffs, Fla., died on November 30, 2022 at the age of 91 after a courageous battle with cancer. Originally from the Bronx, New York, he received his undergraduate degree from The Citadel, the military college of South Carolina, and his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1959 from The Chicago Medical School. Ed practiced trauma surgery in the states of New York, South Carolina, and Florida and he continued his medical practice in Occupational Medicine and maintained his certification as a Senior Aviation Medical Examiner.
Ed was a proud veteran who served in the US Air Force in the Medical Service Corps and, after leaving the Air Force, served as a volunteer pilot for the United States Airforce Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol for 10 years. He also volunteered for the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 20 years where he was an instructor for boating safety, pilot, coxswain and was recently honored for his 15,000 (+) hours of service. Ed was awarded the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his volunteer service, awarded by President Barack Obama in 2014.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa; daughter Deborah A. Twiss; son William H. Kasper; step-children Leon Morales, Ska Ska Morales-Murray, and Lalka Morales; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
Ed’s Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, at Hubbell Funeral Home, 3:00pm, with visitation from 1:00pm-3:00pm. Memorial contributions in Ed’s name may be made to the Clearwater Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla at https://besafeinc.net/donations
