Edward Jackson (Jack) Green, of Mobile, Ala., passed away Friday, September 21, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Lynn Willingham Green; daughter Kimberley Green Smithers; sons; Edward Jackson Green, Jr. (Meg) Miles Tyler Green (Hope) and Brooks Keaton Green (Hallet); eleven grandchildren, Will (Sallie), Kate (Roel), Liz, Ridley, Sumner, Jackson, Keaton, Sarah, Miles, Jr., Brooks, Jr. and Hallet and sister Marianne Bath. Jack left Mobile at 16 to begin his education at The Citadel, followed by medical school at the University of Alabama Birmingham. The pursuit of medicine led him to Chapel Hill, N.C. (Internship) and Birmingham Alabama (Residency) – with a pit stop in between as a Captain in the Army. He then returned to Mobile with his family where he practiced medicine for more than 50 years. Jack was passionate about the love of his life, Lynn; his family, medicine; Dog River; and the never ending pursuit of knowledge. He won accolades from all diners lucky enough to eat his famous soft shell crab, and a gained new name in the last 25 years of his life “affectionately dubbed Dadee by his grandchildren and children. “Dadee” embodied the mantra of “Do all the good you can, for all the people you can, for as long as you can.” He lived his life as a great example to us all with a gentle demeanor, gratitude for each day and a smile on his face.
